Glin Castle, home to the Knights of Glin, has been in the Fitzgerald family for 800 years. The 400 acre estate is located in West Limerick, Irleand on the banks of the Shannon River, and is one of the last of the great Irish houses to still be lived in by the original family. In 2015, the family was forced to put the castle up for sale due to the cost of its upkeep. After a two-year search for new owners, Glin Castle was taken off the market and transformed into an exclusive use rental with Catherine Fitzgerald, a landscape architect, becoming the new chatelaine and her husband, actor Dominic West managing the property. Glin Castle is now available for private rental accommodation, events, weddings, golf tours, group castle and garden tours with lunch, and as a film location. Let’s take a tour with images from House & Garden, The New York Times, Glin Castle, and lastly, a video tour by Catherine and Dominic via Architectural Digest…

Inside Catherine Fitzgerald and Dominic West’s Irish Castle Home

Charming.
hundreds of years of stuff….love it. So relieved that this wonderful place is in the hands of this engaging couple.
Gorgeous! Wow! Wish I could live there.
I visited in March 2000. I so enjoyed the personalness of the master of the house who offered a tour right before we left.
We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the dining room set in small tables and a fire going. It was elegant and an experience I shall never forget.
It rained and why not…Ireland. We walked the grounds and felt like were experiencing esactly what we should.
Thank you and may all your visitors appreciate the history of your family and taking on the upkeep for the next generations.
It is a service to us all.
