With their children out of the house, a Newport Beach, California couple decided it was time to turn to designer Peter Dunham for a refresh. Purchased more than 25 years ago, the wife – an avid gardener – was particularly drawn to the big yard and neighborhood. They love entertaining outdoors, so architect Bob White moved the footprint of the home forward to create room for a pool and allow more outdoor living and entertaining areas. As a centerpiece, the pool house is an English country–inspired folly with private guest quarters and a second-floor office. For the interiors, Peter scoured auction houses and markets for vintage finds to make the home feel rooted. “I layer reclaimed things like the antique mantel so you can’t tell what’s new and what’s old. It’s like making a smoothie, which I guess is pretty Californian,” he told Veranda. Today we will take a tour with images from March/April 2020 issue of Veranda and Peter Dunham’s portfolio.
