I have always been infatuated with Old Hollywood glamour and style – in fact, this passion was largely instrumental in the naming of The Glam Pad! So when I saw this exquisite Georgian Revival by architect Thomas Proctor and interior designer Elizabeth Dinkel via Architectural Digest online, it took my breath away. Located in Brentwood, Los Angeles, it is the home of an esteemed movie producer and his young family. Its 18th-century-inspired architecture was designed to be classical, but not stuffy. The homeowners wanted elegant spaces for entertaining, but they also craved a retreat where they could unwind and find creative inspiration. By working closely with Proctor and Dinkel, they were able to achieve that balance, effortlessly blending antiques with blue-chip art.
“The directive was to create a house for a young family that wasn’t too formal but that could showcase their art—an eclectic mix of contemporary and classic design pieces,” said Elizabeth, who has worked on several projects for the couple. “The property is steeped in classicism—in timeless pieces.”
Thomas told Architectural Digest, “And while, as in all classical buildings, the house celebrates centuries of tradition, it is very much a modern house, modern in the flow of its light-filled spaces and the easy concourse of commodious rooms.”
Let’s take a tour with images from Architectural Digest and from Elizabeth Dinkel’s portfolio. Photography by Karyn Millet.
