My husband and I returned late last night from a long weekend visit to Dallas. I am so incredibly homesick y’all, sometimes I think my heart is going to positively break.
It was so wonderful to be back home! I got to see dear friends, and my parents even drove in for a night. Although I grew up in a small town just west of Dallas, I joke that I got there as soon as I could. As a little girl, we would often drive to Dallas for weekend trips full of shopping and dining… I thought Dallas was the most glamorous place on earth, and I was obsessed with the original Dallas television series.
Whenever we go to Dallas, we always stay at The Mansion on Turtle Creek. Originally built in 1908, and rebuilt after destroyed by fire in 1923, The Mansion was known as one of the finest homes in town. In 1979, The Mansion was purchased by Caroline Rose Hunt, of the famed Hunt family (H.L. Hunt’s personal life was among the chief inspirations for Dallas). It was transformed into a world-class restaurant, and the nine-story hotel was added in 1981.

Awwww, I'm sorry you are homesick, Andrea! It looks like you had a great time. I'm surprised I didn't run into you at Mi Cocina. We ate there twice this weekend. Next time you're here, I'd love to meet you for coffee!
Oh, I would love that Jennifer!! Hopefully I will be back soon! We had a little get-together at the Monkey Bar at the MiCo in Highland Park Village on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. I'm so sorry I missed you!!
XOXO,
The Glam Pad
Andrea,
If I couldn't live in my home state of California I would live in Texas! I love Texans, and my city would be Dallas. I lived in Dallas a long time ago for one year and loved it. It always feels good to go home and reconnect! You can take the girl out of Texas, but not the Texas out of the girl! I hope you embrace your new home and always stay connected to your roots.

I think it is so perfect that the chapel you got married in is surrounded with PINK roses! How romantic.

Sounds like a great trip to Big D…just hope you didn't run into that loser Cliff Barnes.
So glad you had a nice trip! The Mansion on Turtle Creek looks amazing! Now go on over to that Miami Jonathan Adler to cheer yourself up! 😉
Fabulous trip! I love Texas, and have only been to Dallas once but fell in love at first sight. My husband's submarine was the USS Texas, and we developed a close relationship with the SRT in Houston as well as the Houston Navy League while he was CO. We had the pleasure to travel there frequently, and I am hoping it's not too long before we head back for a visit. Am dying to visit the Bush library too!
so sorry youre so homesick but glad you got your Dallas fix in! That Mansion looks so beautiful- we all need some pamepering from time to time.
Hope you bloom where youre planted, as they say. Florida's not so bad?

Glad you got to spend some time in your favorite place. We relocated to Chattanooga from Atlanta 10 years ago. What's nice is that its only 90 minutes away!
Beautiful spaces and I bet the ice cream was yummy. Thanks for posting the photos and feel free to drop by me too anytime.
Aww this has ME homesick!!! I love Neighborhood Services and, of course, all of the other staples you mentioned. I swear, going home is one big "where are we eating next?" We got married at HPUMC and stayed at The Mansion on our wedding night. Now I'm craving queso from Mi Cocina. Argh!
I just revisited this post and can appreciate the Mansion so much more this time around. I love the wallpaper. My next visit to Dallas, family lives there, I'm requesting a night out at the Mansion. Wow.
