One of my favorite accounts on Instagram belongs to Natasja Sadi, founder of Cake Atelier Amsterdam. Natasja spent the first 20 years of her career designing wedding gowns which ultimately sparked her creative passion towards baking and designing cakes. “Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been madly in love with elegant princess dresses and fancy flower bouquets. This love led me to a passion to make my own beautiful creations and it’s kept me busy throughout my life,” she said. Natasja is now one of the most sought after patissiers in Europe, and her exquisite confectionary creations are sold from New York to Paris.

Natasja Sadi
Natasja is known for her passion for flowers. Her specialty is the sugar flower, created through a centuries-old technique of molding gum paste into lifelike flowers. These objets d’art can be cherished as keepsakes long after the special day when kept away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Natasja credits the rich tapestry of Amsterdam, alive with history, woven with canals and laced with ornate decorative buildings for inspiring her daily life. “In Holland, we live with flowers,” she said. “It’s not necessarily a luxury item. If you’re going to the grocery, you buy your weekly flowers. To me, a house without flowers doesn’t have a soul.”
Every Saturday, she buys bouquets at the local market and transforms them into arrangements that rival the centuries-old Dutch still life masterpieces. Lucky for us, she photographs and posts her creations on Instagram on Sundays. Can you tell which are real and which are sugar?

Beautiful is the only thing I can think to say. Thank you for sharing .
My mother, Reva Paul, was an internationally acclaimed confectionery artist. The press called Reva the Monet of sugar art. I’d say Natasja brings the art form to new heights. A grand master if ever there was one. I too have seen Natasja’s masterpieces for years. Fabulous you are sharing her wonderment with your readers. Ellen Easton- Red Wagon Press
